Developing a Loans Service
Conditions and Guidelines
Conditions of Loan
- It is a condition of loan that the objects are used for educational purposes only, and not for profit making purposes.
- Due care and diligence must be taken to safeguard the items on loan.
- Items on loan must be locked away when not in use.
- If [museum] is delivering the loan material, the objects, paintings and specimens must be identified to an authorised individual at the destination, who should sign to accept responsibility for the loan.
- Borrowers must have adequate insurance cover.
- [museum] must be informed at once if items are damaged, lost or stolen. Borrowers must not attempt repairs, but should collect any pieces or fragments of the objects and either give them to the driver on collection, or to [museum] Loan Service Collection Manager if they are responsible for returning the loan to [museum] themselves. Stolen items must be reported to the Loan Service Manager in the first instance, Tel: [phone number].
